Dr. Eva Reich’s Butterfly Touch Massage

Butterfly Touch Massage is a gentle technique that helps restore the natural flow of life energy that has been affected by either a sudden shock or gradual but constant trauma as with prolonged stress. Trauma can occur at any point from conception and early experiences in the womb, through childhood and into adulthood. It can occur on any level through surgery, accidents, illness or emotional stress and is unique to each person.

Butterfly Touch Massage invites energy to flow and expand creating a renewed sense of well-being. When performed on adults, this light sweeping touch can help heal primal trauma that is often being unknowingly held as protective “armour”. Just as a premature baby curls up to shield itself from a harsh environment. adults contract or hold muscular tension due to unexpressed emotions thus impeding the flow of life energy.

“Some traumas are not the result of one isolated shock, but occur as consequence of repeated small experiences. As a result armouring develops over time, similar to the way stalactites or stalagmites are formed in caves by slow dripping of the mineralised water.”

Now replaced by Family B.E.S.T

Jan trained in Butterfly Touch Massage  in 2005 and has now replaced this treatment with a form of Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique which is suitable for babies and children.

Natural Pulsation of Life Energy

Butterfly touch is based on  the work of Wilhelm Reich  who was an associate of Sigmund Freud. It is thought to work on the principle of the natural pulsation of life energy within us that is felt through our emotions and has the ability to charge and discharge as it moves through the body. Wilhelm Reich was one of the first to work with the mind body aspect of psychotherapy and  realised  how his touch could heal  the effects of painful memories that had been held within the body of his patients. During the 1950’s his daughter Eva worked closely alongside him. assisting and observing his gentle touch with children.  Eva was also able to identify  primal trauma and accelerate the healing process. She created the terms Gentle Bio-Energetics (life energy) and Butterfly Touch  as a way of developing her father’s work and  teaching her methods in workshops worldwide.

Jan trained in Butterfly Touch Massage with Richard Overly who assisted Eva as her student during the 1980s. Working closely alongside Eva, he  published two books so that her writings and methods could be preserved and passed on as accurately as possible. Richard is currently lecturing worldwide as Director of  the Gentle Bio-Energetics Institute – the non-profit organisation which he set up  to continue Eva’s work.

Bio Energetic Synchronisation Technique (B.E.S.T.)

Bio Energetic Synchronisation Technique can help you to become free from the subconscious emotional memory overload (SEMO) that keeps you stuck in the past, often affecting the body’s ability to fully heal and preventing you from living your most fulfilling life.

B.E.S.T. is a very gentle, non-forceful treatment that is used by many Doctors of Chiropractic and therapists all over the world. Its background and principles are sound. It was developed by Dr. M.T. Morter Jnr. who received a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for his service to humanity.

Thank you very much for the lovely treatment today Jan, as usual you worked your magic and I immediately felt relaxed and let go of the outside world…great that this massage can be done with my clothes on and in my lunch hour…and I love the positive, calmer, increased energy feelings that will last me well into next week.
