What to expect from a consultation
Jan will assess your Ayurvedic constitution and current condition through your health questionnaire, discussion, pulse and tongue diagnosis. This will provide insights as to where there may be imbalances that are affecting your health now.
We will discuss the strength of your digestive fire and effectiveness of elimination. These are key areas that can be improved in preventing the accumulation of toxins that can lead to dis-ease. We will review your concerns and explore your past health experiences together with your present aims and requirements.
An assessment will be made according to these findings and recommendations made.

The wisdom of Ayurveda
Ayurveda is translated as ‘science of life’ and is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems. It dates back thousands of years with knowledge being passed on by direct teachings and texts.
Ayurveda is a totally natural way of restoring the vital energies of body-mind and emotions to create health on a deeper level. Through understanding our own personal constitution and tendencies we can be guided towards making simple changes in our lives. Improvements in health can be achieved through awareness of the foods we eat, our lifestyle and daily routines.
The effects of Ayurveda are accumulative, empowering and often transformative.

Amla is a fruit commonly known as the Indian gooseberry. It provides exceptionally high levels of Vitamin C and natural anti-oxidants It is also one of at the components of Trifala which is frequently prescribed to detoxify and cleanse the digestive system whilst rejuvenating the tissues throughout the body.

Together we will create a plan that will encourage and support your health goals. This may include patterns around eating and sleeping, the balance between activity and rest, beneficial yoga practises and therapies as well as time spent in nature.

Lifestyle and diet are the two main areas that we will discuss as they can indicate the underlying cause of many health issues.
Dietary recommendations will be suggested according to your unique needs and what will nourish you most effectively
Ayurveda classifies food according to its characteristics and effects upon our constitution and present condition. It teaches us which qualities of the foods we eat are life enhancing and those which could lead to further imbalance.

The inclusion of herbs and spices can be used to enhance the healing effectsof food or be prescribed specificallyfor your condition. They are easy to introduce into your day through teas, special blends of powders or simply as part of meal preparation. Herbs have been used medicinally for thousands of years to prevent and heal disease as they have the ability to nourish the tissues on a deep level and support digestion.

Yoga, conscious breath and meditation can easily be incorporated into your daily routine to help you feel balanced and peaceful. Jan will advise you which practices will best support your health aspirations.
Therapies such as Indian Head Massage, Aromatherapy or daily self massage at home may also be recommended. Ayurvedic oil blends help to nourish your mind and body whilst restoring the dosha or element that may be elevated. For example, excess heat or dryness.
